Mariame Salla

A much-loved and respected Maryland school teacher, Mariame Toure Salla, 59, has been missing since her July 29th, 8 p.m. walk. She was last seen in her town of Greenbelt, near her home. Her friends and family describe her evening stroll as typical activity, while her failure to return is highly suspicious.

Sylla is clearly a favorite of her community, as evidenced by the size of the vigil held by the Greenbelt community over the weekend.

The Greenbelt Police Chief, Richard Browers, maintains that while they are currently working on this as a missing persons case, their focus will remain open to all other possibilities. According to the Greenbelt Police Department, Sylla is a Black female, approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and 135 pounds. The police are requesting that anyone with information about her disappearance contact Detective Davis at (240) 542-2134, ddavis@greenbeltmd.gov, or the Greenbelt Police Department at (301) 474-7200.
